Its not everyday we loose a legend like Aretha Franklin, so the world mourns her loss today. After battling with grave illness for some days, she finally went to rest today. Surrounded by friends and family, Aretha died in her home in Detroit, Michigan.

Aretha Franklin 1942-12018

Aretha’s decade-spanning career produced hits that even my generation was privileged to hear and sing. She released her first album ‘Songs of Faith’ in 1956 and followed with so many hits. Some of her best songs include ‘You Make me feel like a Natural Woman‘, ‘I say a little Prayer’, ‘Chain of Fools‘ and her iconic cover of Otis Redding’s ‘Respect’.

Aretha was not just the Queen of Soul, she was a real life Queen to all young black women and she inspired generations and generations of singers after her. God bless her and may she rest in Peace.
